Ramie,
Tamara, and Bethany always loved to challenge themselves physically and commit
to different athletic feats. Since
Tamara and Bethany have run a few half marathons in the past, it seemed fitting
to honor their friend and teammate Ramie by truly challenging themselves
physically with a full marathon.
Their
initial hesitation in completing a full marathon before was the lack of a cause
for which they felt committed enough to run. Ramie’s life, short but so fully
lived, has given them the inspiration to take on the feat of running this 26.2
mile race. They know Ramie would have
been right there beside them, and since she can’t be, they want to complete the
race as a tribute to her life and in honor of her family. For this reason, they
have chosen to dedicate their training and this race experience to fundraising
for the Ramie Harris Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Both young ladies are preparing
physically for the 26.2 mile run, and have been training consistently. As an initial goal, they are
hopeful that 100 people will pledge $1.00 for each mile they run.
100 donors X $26.20 for Tamara or Bethany = $2620
for the Ramie Harris Memorial Scholarship Fund
or
100 donors X $52.40 for Tamara AND
Bethany = $5240 for the Ramie Harris Memorial Scholarship Fund
But, they will accept a donation of any
amount and certainly letters of support either mailed to the Foundation or
written on their blog page. Ultimately,
they are counting on any and all support of generous individuals like you to
support their efforts and in turn, Ramie’s Fund here at the Foundation.
Won't you take a moment to write out a
check, payable to Community Foundation of Grant County with Ramie’s name in the
memo line as a sponsor of their participation in the 5th Annual
Indianapolis Monumental Marathon? Your gift will be used to provide scholarships to
students who attend Wheaton College just like Ramie did.
Your thoughtful consideration and generosity
are truly appreciated.
